More Online Radio Song Display News
Post InfoAs I continue to learn C# I am making quite some progress with Online Radio Song Display. I’ll post a new download link for it tomorrow hopefully.
This blog post is pretty boring and useless as the rest of my vacation has been pretty chill and I mostly got some work done with some client stuff.
Christmas! – Yes it’s late, but whatever… (Oh and some other stuff too)
Post InfoI’m making a late blog post about Christmas, whatever, I don’t care. Anyway, Christmas was pretty fun. I hung out with family for the most bit, then on boxing day I went to go and spend the money I got from Christmas. So, I went to Memory Express and bought 2 things. Two Samsung SyncMaster 2494HM’s (24″ HD Monitor). So of course, I had to take some un-boxing pictures
(Images are links, because I still haven’t gotten a working image resizing plugin so images are massive..)
So here we see the boxes, in all their hugeness. I never expected the boxes to be that deep, so when I saw that in the store, I was like “Oh.. wonderful…”
Image 1
Just opened the boxes
Image 2
Pulled the monitors out of the boxes and there they are, sitting on my floor
Image 3
Here is the pile of cables that came with the monitors. Thank god I got DVI cables with it…
Image 4
So here is the before of my desk, just my laptop sitting there, couple of things cluttering up my desk
Image 5
Then the after, two monitors sitting there… epic.
Image 6
Turned on my computer, then I chose a background that actually fit the display size, and I have a youtube video playing on the left monitor
Image 7
Here is my desktop, before I got UltraMon (Yes I realize the image is a bit blurry)
Image 8
Then a nice shot from an angle, however the dust ruins it a bit.
Image 9
Each monitor display size is 1920 x 1080, so combined that’s 3840 x 1080, lots of desktop space
Also, I started some more work on it and got multiple stations working. So far I only have 2 done, and 3 in the list. I plan to add more as time goes by but we’ll see..
Here is a picture of the update:

So, so far so good. The first 2 work, I haven’t added the last one yet. I also plan to add a “Search on YouTube” and “Tune In” button to the rightclick menu on the Icon. Unfortunately no download link this time, I will post another link when I have a bit more done.
Another thing I am working on is a Team Fortress 2 Achievement map with a friend. So far the map is coming along pretty nicely. We have the Spawn Room done, Private Rooms, and 2/9 of the Class Specific rooms. No screenshots yet, as it’s still early, maybe I will post some tomorrow
. With the map we still have 5/9 of the class specific achievement rooms and the Main Room.
Long time no post…
Post InfoWell It’s been a while, so I decided I’d post something.
A while ago I made a sig for use on forums that would show the current song playing on Q-Dance Radio which looks like:

Now I have a separate computer I use for listening to music (Yes yes yes, waste of electricity, I know.) so when I hear a good song playing, it’s not much more efficient to open a new tab and navigate to there than what I used to do which was to go to This Page. So I decided I’d make an application, however; I know nothing of computer programming languages, I do know web programming languages, but they are obviously different. I had decided on C# since I had looked into that a tad bit a while back. So I started with the initial design which looks like this:

Then I got a Balloon tooltip working plus the icon in the taskbar

But that song info was just bogus info I had hard coded into the program. So then came the fun part of trying to get it to display the song info. I initially looked into cURL, but that required external libs so I decided against it. Then with some help from Deruu, I found alternative ways of doing it and eventually I got it to display actual track information.

Looking at that screenshot now, I notice that the D got cutoff… I fixed that, but I never replaced the screenshot. I plan to add more stations than just Q-Dance Radio to the list, but that will be later as I am still a beginner with C# and something like that is probably too advanced right now.
If you want to download the simple program, then you can just download it here.
Hopefully I can get in the habit of daily posting, but that may take some time ;P
Motd Management News
Post InfoWell a couple things came up so Motd Management has been severly delayed. I had to send my laptop in for servicing which my laptop had all the files for Motd Management, and I had backed everything up using the windows backup utility to my home server not knowing that the backup utility doesn’t backup .php files. So I lost all the files for Motd Management. I will have to get a beta copy of the secure server and work from there, but it’s quite outdated compared to the one I had that was ready for release.
Sorry for the delay, I wish I had released it before I sent my laptop in for servicing. Keep checking back for news on Motd Management.
Motd Management + FTP
Post InfoWell according to a beta tester, there is a small glitch with using iframes on the source engine motd where it hangs for a minute or so. So I am currently adding FTP support. I am uncertain that updating motd.txt will be instant when a player joins, I will be testing this later on, but it may be the only way until I figure something out. With added FTP support, I will be able to add support for more games in the future so we will see what happens with that. FTP support will be available in versions 2.02b and later. Many thanks to my current beta testers, you have been a great help.
Changelog for v 2.02b:
-Added: FTP Support
-Fixed: Placement of </head> and <body> tags.
MOTD Management entering into beta!
Post InfoWell since MOTD Management is ready, it’s going to be released as a beta. A thread has been posted on random forums and 10 people that meet the criteria will be able to test out the beta.
PS. Gtfo shady and noticing my spelling errors
Motd Management
Post InfoMotd Management is on it’s way. I would estimate that it is 80% done. More updates will be posted.
Updates!
Post InfoWell when I updated my blog to the latest version it overwrite some files that I had modified so some of the dropdown menus are failing. Also, I maybe opening a controller modification service. In the beggining I will only be doing LED changes then hopefully later on I can do rapidfire kits. We’ll see, I will keep you updated on the status of the controller modification service, hopefully I am able to do it.
Procrastination + Perfectionism
Post InfoWell I recently found out that procrastination is linked to perfectionism. The reasoning behind it is that if you are a perfectionist you don’t want to do the work because you are scared you wont do a perfect job so you will continually put it off till you think you can complete it to a satifactory level in your mind. Normally this will lead you to not do the task because you rather not do it than fail at it. Guess that means us perfectionists have an excuse to be lazy
